Australia. Ahhhhh. You do it to us every time. A favorite Australian blogger around the office, Mollie Stevens of http://allaboutedie.blogspot.com/, recently let us know she was coming to NYC for Fashion Week. She ordered some shoes from the site, then we promptly shipped them to her NYC hotel for her arrival—and we tossed in a pair for her week of travels, shows, parties, meet and greets, city stomping and that urban magic that ONLY NYC can create. So–we thought we would take a second to catch up with her, check in on her NYC adventures and find out what else she is up to. For more on her, make sure you check out her blog, which we love, <3
The below correspondence took place via GMAIL. Enjoy.

SS: Tell us a bit about your life in Australia! Who is MOLLIE STEVENS! Blogger? Model? Stylist? It Girl? Glob Trotter?
Im just a down to earth girl who is chasing her dream and hope that I can inspire those to do the same. I am a Sydney based blogger who only started allaboutedie, this year around March. I am overwhelmed by the response I have received and I love that fact that people source inspiration from it. I have always had a big love for fashion and creativity. I remember when I was younger, hiding fashion magazines under my bed and getting lost in the glossy content. I knew that I wanted to be apart of that artistic world. Coming from a small town, know one thought that I could do it, because its all about ‘who you know,’ so I packed up my things and made the voyage to Sydney all alone, where I formed contacts and dived in to pursue my dream. I also model which I love and style. When I am not attending events, working or putting together shoots with my amazing photographer Christopher James (www.christopherjamesphotography.com.au
) I love nothing more than to spend time with friends, whether it be a night out or lazing around having coffee. Summer is coming up and I can’t wait to spend my days at Bondi Beach.
SS: Tell us in ten words or less the vibe behind http://allaboutedie.blogspot.com/?
allaboutedie is a blog filled with personal style, projects, fashion inspiration and random photographs of my life.
SS: In ten words or less what is your personal style?I love throwing pieces together and experimenting. My style is sort of effortless/chic. I am very aware of trends and styles, but at the end of the day you are either born with a sense of style or you’re not and it just comes naturally to you. I just get up in the morning and ask myself what do I feel like wearing today and how do I want to put it together.
SS: Have you been to NYC before, or is this your maiden voyage to the big apple?
This was my first time in the city that never sleeps and I fell in love! I wasn’t sure what to expect. Everybody who had been before said that I would fall in love with the city and I sure did. It’s just got an amazing vibe. So inspiring. Everybody is just so friendly and always willing to help you. You can’t describe it to anybody, It’s somewhere everyone needs to visit at some stage and I am so grateful that I got to experience it. I am already planning my next trip back!
SS: What were your thoughts on street style and culture, by culture I mean did you get a hot dog from a street vendor?
The street style and culture is so much different to Australia. The sidewalks are always buzzing; with hotdog stands on every corner, the harmonious sound of the saxophonist standing by the subway, to the friendly natives pointing the puzzled map-reading tourists in the right direction. The vibe in the city is electrifying and the big lights are magnetic. There is nothing you can do without getting some sort of ‘dejavu’ from a movie or a tv-show that you have seen. I didn’t get a hot dog myself, however my friend/photographer Christopher James did and loved it, but wasn’t too keen on the famous pretzel. He also informed me that McDonalds tastes better in New York, so there you go!
SS: Favorite Area in NYC?
I loved walking around Soho and Greenwich village. Greenwich especially has a real bohemian vibe to it. With brownstones and cobble stone streets, it is so different to anything I am used to in Australia. It’s beautiful.
SS: What was the highlight of NYFW for you?
Everything about NYFW was amazing. If I had to put it down to one, it would be the Mulberry 40th birthday party. It was on a rooftop and Kasabian played. it was a great event, filled with inspiring people.
SS: If any #hashtag could describe your life right now, what would it be and why?
I guess a hashtag would be #chasingmydream, because thats what I am doing! It could also be #exciting!
SS: We know you are heading into summer, what are your top five summer style essentials?
1. A great Cosi
2. Oversized Sunglasses
3. Perfect pair of Denim cutouffs
4. A nice light weight foundation- Mac Face & Body
5. Ideal pair of Summer shoes- Jeffrey Campbell Adlong
SS: What is currently blasting on your IPOD?
I always mix it up. I like all different types of music!….I just had a look then and the last song that I listened to was a mashup by a DJ called Milkman
SS: If you could be at any intersection in NYC which one would it be and why!?
I didn’t have enough time to venture to every intersection, however I loved the little streets around Greenwich Village. Standing on the intersection of Bleeker Street and Hudson, I really felt like I was in NYC. Its so beautiful around there and the famous Magnolia bakery is right on the corner… It was there that we sat on our first stoop, ate a cupcake, drank coffee and just took it all in.
