Team Solestruck is elated to be partnering with the boys behind the carefully crafted Brooklyn boutiques ALTER. With three thriving shops and a growing web presence under their umbrella, owners Roy and Tommy (photographed above) seemed to have set the tone for Greenpoint, Brooklyn well before it was even a destination. Flanking two sides of Franklin Street (the main shopping street), just before Greenpoint Ave, the two Greenpoint locals have a men’s and women’s shop on each side of the street. Perfectly sparse and excellently curated, the stores have seemed to grow and shift with the bustling popularity of the once primarily Polish corner of Northern Brooklyn. Through the years and growth, however; Tommy and Roy have kept true to their tactics, visions and operations- giving locals looks they can afford, attain, and incorporate into their daily armor for NYC living. The stores have long since been a draw for weekend shoppers from all parts of NYC, or those who live just blocks away, taking a weekend stroll down the picturesque Franklin.

We are proud to be collaborating with the entire team at ALTER for a month long Shoe ‘Shop in Shop’. Tommy and Roy have hand selected styles from Solestruck’s house labels YES and To Be Announced, which they feel represents the store, it’s clients, and the vibe of the neighborhood surrounding the store. For the month of December, the store will house the curated selection and will be getting several small deliveries to keep the variety, sizing, and offering fresh as the holiday grind wears on. The shoes on display, all via Solestruck, were selected to merchandise perfectly with their goods from favorite brands such as Cheap Monday, Mink Pink, UZI, Spiewalk, and Coal headware, as well as their newly launched House Label. You can shop the special shoe shop-in-shop all month long!

Solestruck: How long have you had your stores now?
Alter: Mens store almost 7 years, Womens store 5 years and our Graham Avenue store just passed the 3 year mark.

Solestruck: Plans for any new locations in the new year?
Alther: You never know what will come up!  But at the moment, no plans…

Solestruck: If team Solestruck came to Greenpoint BK for one night, where would you guys take us?
Alter: We’d have cocktails next to the womens shop at Pencil Factory bar, and then head down to Karczma for some authentic Polish cuisine!

Solestruck: Define the Alter Vibe in five words or less.
