Cheap Tricks

I, like most every girl who’s interested in fashion, subscribe to about a gazillion fashion magazines. Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Vogue… you name it. Each month I flip through the glossy, fragrant pages, oohing and aahing over this and that, dog-earing pages and making lists of things to be on the lookout for on my next shopping expedition. I enjoy watching and analyzing trends as they come and go. Some are riveting while others are repellant to me, and I think that’s part of the fun. I am inspired by trends, but I don’t live by them. That being said, I’ll now state the obvious: most of the stuff that I drool over in the pages of those magazines is EXPENSIVE AS SHIT. Don’t get me wrong, Lanvin, I want that laminated python bag just as much as the next girl, but I’ll be damned if I can afford it. So, what’s a working girl to do when she needs to look hip without breaking the bank? The answer is simple: thrift with all her heart! Granted, it’s going to take more time and a lot of tirelessly flipping through those racks to find the gems that you’re searching for, but it’s worth it. The feeling of finding vintage Céline for $2.00 is indescribably wonderful, and everyone needs to experience that at least once. Besides, think about this: the less money you spend on clothes, THE MORE YOU’LL HAVE FOR SHOES…. and bags, and harnesses, and whatever other pretty things your heart desires. To help get you in the thriftin’ mood, I’ve put together three looks that were inspired by what I consider to be the most bewitching trends for Spring. All of the clothing you see was thrifted by me, and styled with the Opening Ceremony Grunge Buckle Boot, which happens to be the most versatile boot on the planet. Ready, Set, Thrift!
