We are very excited to be launching over 15 new boutique, specialty and international brands here at Solestruck for Fall 2010. The crowning jewel (literally) among these new comers is clearly the LA based shoe sweetheart James Price Jr. Creating shoes that are equal parts downtown stripper, meets fantasy land my little pony-esque pumps–the end result is a shoe heaven of color, texture, shine and glamour.
Price combines mixed media elements, adhered jewels and ephemera to create shoes that are chic, avant garde, over-the-top, and insanely addictive. Read below as James Price sat with Team Solestruck for a Q & A about life, love, music, style, shoes and more. We should have the shoes up by tomorrow…stay tuned.
Q: James, Hi, thanks for meeting with me. We love the shoes! We love Haus of Price! What is your background, where did the inspiration come from for H.O.P. shoes?
My background is pretty deeply rooted in my passion for everything vintage. I started off styling and selling really awesome vintage. Then one day I needed shoes for a shoot that I couldn’t find.. So, I made them. The inspiration came from my love of everything gaudy. My whole life I have been pushing the limits with my own style, so I would say if I were a girl these would be my dream shoes, and thats why I made them.
Q: Who inspires you style wise?
My style is completely influenced by icons of the 80′s and 90′s everyone from Boy George to Kelly Bundy.
Q: Who would you say is the Haus of Price girl.
Every girl is a Haus girl. I mean honestly what girl could say that she wouldn’t have at least 10 occasions to wear these to? Birthday/ Holiday/ New Years or everyday the list goes on and on!
Q: Who is your celebrity dream crush?
My celebrity dream crush would have to be Marc Jacobs. He is exactly where I want to see myself in 10 years.
Q: What’s next for Haus of Price?
What isn’t next? Haus of Price is a lifestyle, everything from bags to belts to clothes to shoes. I want my brand to be the name on everyone’s lips.
Q: What five songs are on constant rotation on your IPOD right now?
Its pretty sad to say but I’m addicted to the pop life. right now I’ve got Katy perry and Lady GaGa on steady rotation. I usually throw in some Lil Wayne and some Nicki Minaj into the mix.
