It’s inevitable. After hanging on the fringes of the shoe scene for a few seasons, gladiators sandals have launched into a full-scale fashion trend for Spring/Summer 2008. Everyone is talking about it, and all your favorite brands are showing it off. Here are a few of our top picks.
Try the Sam Edelman Gilda in black white (left). Numerous straps, a bare heel and a flat sole are typical of the trend, but other details set this sandal apart. A snakeskin upper, cut slim and lined with a shimmery metallic, adds texture in a shade befitting the bright days ahead.
The Steve Madden Croww (right) is also easily recognizable as a gladiator sandal with its distinctive shape, but this option offers sparser straps and compensates by upping the embellishments. Bold metal buckles accent every band of leather, while matching studs march up the middle.
Finally, check out the Chinese Laundry Razor (left). This sandal follows the gladiator trend, too, but much more loosely. Only a few shimmery straps create this shoe’s ultra-slinky profile, but its mirrored finish, both upper and footbed, puts shine in your style and a smile on your face.
