In 1958, Hush Puppies released the world’s first casual comfort shoe, signaling the beginning of a revolutionary idea that continues to inspire the brand today.
Fifty years later, the Hush Puppies brand has become one of the most highly recognized names in the world, sold in over 120 countries. In celebration of its 50th birthday, Hush Puppies has announced their first guest collection designed in partnership with celebrity stylists Phillip Bloch from New York and Rachel Fanconi from London. Patterns from both designers will suit a wide range of tastes while retaining Hush Puppies’ signature comfort.
“This milestone anniversary is an ideal opportunity for us to celebrate the spirit behind ’50 years of casual style’,” said George Bicas, marketing manager of Hush Puppies Canada. “Our team and loyal retailers are looking forward to being part of all the fun events that we have planned for our customers throughout the year.”
Hush Puppies selected Optimum Public Relations to develop and implement both traditional and non-traditional campaigns as well as public events to advertise the anniversary and the guest collection. Pierre Tessier, vice-president at Optimum, said, “Many people know about the fantastic quality and comfort of Hush Puppies’ shoes and boots, and immediately recognize their distinctive Basset Hound icon [above]. It’s time to remind consumers about this and also begin speaking to a new consumer, one who is looking for both fashion and comfort in footwear.”
