Ankle boots are literally everywhere this season! It took me a bit to warm up to them, but after seeing my girl Lauren sporting some sweet ones at karaoke, I decided to take the plunge. I mean, they look great with slacks, and they even look awesome with a short dress with tights.
For many people, though–and myself included–it’s very important to choose a shoe that is comfortable and practical. Solestruck has those, too!
A while back, I photographed the Seychelles Chatterbox. It quickly became one of my favorites, with a cool grey suede upper (grey is HOT right now!) and a low-rising demi-wedge. Cha-ching! Combined with Seychelles signature comfort and padded footbed, this was shaping up to be an awesome pick. And at only $109.95 for a truly awesome boot, it seemed like a steal.
The only problem I could forsee was that because we’re located in the great Pacific Northwest, the suede could easily be damaged.
After I brought these babies home, I Scotchguarded the hell out of them, and the next day I wore them in the rain, and they were fine. And the heel was perfect, and my feet suffered minimal fatigue after a long day walking around.
Try out the BC Footwear Mixmaster. This ankle bootie is cool because, first and foremost, it’s totally flat. So if you think the demi-wedge could be too much, you won’t have to worry at all with these. And what it doesn’t have in height is made up with by texture. And I’m talkin’ tons! The leather upper appears to be a wraparound shaft with lots of stitching, and a tie at the back of the ankle. And at only $99.95? Yes, please!
Another boot I’d recommend is the Jeffrey Campbell Atry 2. I’d say it’s for all you gals out there who are Western-curious, but haven’t yet worked up the nerve to go full-on cowgirl. It’s slouchy leather upper adds a modern twist to the classic boot silhouette, and the mid-rise thick wooden heel ensures that you’re walkin’ pretty. At $164.95, you won’t want to take these babies off!
