MEET SHAUNA. This babe from our hometown of Portland, OR is one of our closest BFFS in the blogosphere, cause duh, she’s like right across the street! If you’re not as chummy with this style mavin, she’s the girl behind Nubby Twiglet, a personal style and design blog where Shauna tells all about her design work, daily outfits, and other equally awesome stuff- like designing your own skate deck! This little lady went a whole step above and created her own tale of OBSESSION with a pair of TBA 1-800s- check it out below along with our Q&A sesh!
Shauna Haider, but some of your readers may know me better by my longtime nickname, Nubby.
What do you do?
I’m a graphic designer, blogger and self-confessed shoe fiend.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Enough to fill a shoe closet. Yes, my shoes have their own closet. I would say that a third of them are from Solestruck!
Your photos are amazing. What’s your experience with photography?
I’m not a pro, but I know what I like. I’ve been carrying a camera since middle school…though photos from that time are super embarrassing and buried in the depths of my basement. I am also lucky to have a lot of pro photographer friends like Shaun Mendiola, who shot these photos.
How did you come up with your blogging name?
It’s a combination of nicknames I had back in the late 90s during high school.
How hard or easy is it for you to maintain your blog?
Having a full-time career as a designer, it’s hard to make time for blogging but I do it because I love it. My social life definitely suffers, though!
If you could live in any time period, which would it be?
Here and now. Our constant access to technology is a double-edged sword but I embrace it for what it is. I love being to chat with friends halfway across the world in an instant.
What’s the first thing you notice about someone else’s outfit?
The shoes! Always the shoes. I worked in shoe stores throughout college so I’m definitely biased in this area.
Favorite fashion item you own?
I am big on accessories because they’re items I can use every day. I have a Miu Miu bag with a massive turnlock that, when closed, forms a red cross. I’ve been carrying it for a year and a half straight and it’s pretty trashed at this point but I love it.
What do you want to be doing 10 years from now?
Traveling even more and to still be as passionate about design as I am now. I never want to lose that spark to create.
Mary-Kate or Ashley?
Mary-Kate! She’s not afraid to rock her style and take risks, even if a lot of mainstream media doesn’t get it. I admire that.
