We are so excited about the arrival of the much anticipated Swedish born brand VAGABOND. In just days, the shoes have become cult favorites with our core shoppers, loyal fans, and staff members! To welcome Vagabond to the site—we thought we should show them how we do it…so three lucky ladies are going to win a pair of shoes in our first ever…

Wikipedia sums up the Vagabond lifestyle as:
A vagabond or “drifter” is an itinerant person. The word is derived from the Latin adjective vagabundus, “inclined to wander”, from the verb vagor, “wander”. It does not denote a member of a nomadic people, but rather an individual who follows a wandering lifestyle within a sedentary society. Such people may be called drifters, tramps, or rogues. A vagabond is characterized by almost continuous travelling, lacking a fixed home, temporary abode, or permanent residence. Vagabonds are not bums, as bums are not known for travelling, preferring to stay in one location.[1]

I would wander on the streets of Paris, France in these babies. Killer outfit, with killer shoes. Paris, where fashion lives, and where people are not afraid to express themselves! It’s 101 degrees in New York City right now, and although I love the way the July sun glints on the fire-escapes of the tenements, I want to wander to Barcelona. In the labyrinthine streets of the old city I want to drink Spanish cappuccinos topped with decadent cream by night, and by day I want to sip kiwi smoothies and run around in the Spanish heat with boys who speak Catalan.

I need to wander to Seoul, South Korea where my mother and I were both born. We always used to go together, but I haven’t been back since I lost her to cancer last year. Seoul is an incredibly stylish place, and for my first trek there without my mother and best friend, I am going to need some comfortable yet gorgeous shoes.

Okay, let’s get real — if I could wander anywhere, it wouldn’t be Paris, London or Tokyo. No, my ambitions would lead me elsewhere, somewhere far more exotic. I would venture to Florida to swim in the beautiful waters home to the manatee. I once saw a nature program on manatees, and all they did was eat and swim all day without a care in the world. My JC tapestry Litas will have me drifting to Spain in style. Hot men, amazing food, and the chance to put my Spanish skills to the ultimate test. These tuition dollars need to pay off somehow! Where would I wonder you ask? My first thought was that I would go somewhere that was temperature appropriate to wear such a fabulous shoe as the VAGABOND but then I just remembered… yesterday when I wore my fabulous new vagabond boots in 80 degrees I would wonder anywhere (with air conditioning) so that people could see my gloriousness on my feet!

Anyways who would to leave great Los Angeles? I mean people come here to take in the sun and hang out at the beach. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE. I’ve had the wandering/traveling bug since before I could remember. I need to go to Tokyo, Japan for that wonderful harajuku style. I need to go to Australia for an actual CLEAN and beautiful beach and ride I mean see some kangaroos. And maybe discover the under water kingdom of Atlantis, just saying. This weekend I am going to a punk music festival called sound and fury in San Diego but that’s not far enough nor nearly long enough. Maybe in these shoes it will make me get up, save some money, and go on the adventure I have been craving.

I’d wander all the way home to Sweden to take a course in Kurbits painting in my Vagabond shoes. Kurbits and hasbeens were born in my little hometown, Mora.

As a vagabond, I’ll start my journey in a little tin canoe on the Missouri river. I’ll paddle along, camping in forest glades and caves, until I reach St. Louis. From there, it is down the Mississippi until New Orleans where I’ll have a huge Cajun feast, hold a seance under the mossy trees in an old cemetary, and drink whiskey until I pass out in the velvety home of a strange debutante. While she’s sleeping, I’ll try on all her vintage frocks and huge feathered hats. After a few days in the French Quarter, I’ll sneak onto a cargo ship headed for Venezuela and explore South America. The beaches of Brazil, the Mayan ruins… I will braid my hair with parrot feathers and shells and make bikinis out of coconut shells, banana leaves and raw leather. Something tells me I’ll need a fierce pair of shoes for this journey…
